Empowering Women in Diber through Agritourism

The Women’s Empowerment in Diber in Agritourism (WEDA) project, implemented by the Albanian Local Capacity Development Foundation (ALCDF) and funded by the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), has successfully concluded with remarkable results. This initiative aimed to improve the socio-economic conditions of women in the Diber region by enhancing their skills, market access, and opportunities in the growing agritourism sector.

Over 280 rural women benefited from comprehensive training in integrated agritourism, hospitality, and traditional culinary arts. The project facilitated 15 business-to-business agreements, supported 40 women entrepreneurs to gain access to online platforms, and promoted their products at the annual Harvest Festival, visited by over 1,000 tourists.

A dedicated online platform, agroturizem.al, was also launched to help women-led businesses expand their digital presence and reach new markets. These efforts have not only strengthened women’s role in local economic development but have also showcased Diber’s rich natural, cultural, and culinary heritage to a wider audience.

This project marks a sustainable step forward in fostering rural tourism and empowering women to become leaders in their communities
