Project Overview

The project developed Dibër and Mavrovo-Rostushe as one integrated cross-border adventure tourism destination, using mountain biking and active tourism as drivers of rural economic development.

It combined tourism infrastructure, skills development, new products, marketing and cooperation between municipalities and tourism businesses.

What We Did

The project developed approximately 40 km of biking trails, supported the renovation of two multifunctional visitor centres and strengthened the skills of adventure guides, accommodation providers and other tourism businesses.

New cross-border tourism products were developed and marketed, while stronger relationships were established among local, national and international tourism actors. The destination was promoted through national and international tourism and cycling fairs.

Key Results

The project created new direct and indirect employment opportunities and significantly strengthened adventure-tourism infrastructure.

It helped establish Mavrovo-Rostushe and Dibër as a unified active-tourism destination, connecting infrastructure improvements with professional services, international marketing and local economic opportunities.
