Consultative meetings with key actors of the project "Protection and sustainable use of the cross-border protected areas of Sharr Mountain, Mavrovo and Korab-Koritnik", financed by #PONT.

The ALCDF team and project partners #CSCD (Center for Sustainable Community Development) and LAG "Dibra Turistike" conducted an informative and consultative meeting with the main actors of the central government in North Macedonia.

Very impressive meetings were at the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, with Deputy Minister Mrs. Hristina Odzaklieska, the State Secretary of this Ministry Mr. Nebi Rexhepi, and Director of the Department of Nature Mr. Vlatko Trpeski. Also, meetings were organized with the Director of Pastures, Mr. Nefrus Celiku, and the decentralization specialist at the Decentralization Department of the Ministry of Local Government, Mr. Elmaz Maliqi.

These meetings were in the framework of the project activity for the creation of the joint inter-state structure of the "Strategic Partnership Group" (SPG), which is composed of representatives of the line Ministries, the central department/directorates of the Protected Areas, the departments of decentralization and self-governance support in the respective Ministries of local government, and directorates of forests and pastures in both countries.

The purpose of this structure is to increase inter-state cooperation between the two countries and to legitimize the efforts of cross-border cooperation in the Sharr-Korab protected areas. This structure will approve the cooperation agenda and joint activities in the project area. Furthermore, it will facilitate the process of joint decision-making through signing the cooperation agenda of the project, which is in line with an agreement signed by the Ministers of the three countries (Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia) for the cross-border protecting area of the Sharr-Korab.

These meetings are in the framework of the project, "Protection and sustainable use of the cross-border protected areas of Sharr Mountain, Mavrovo and Korab-Koritnik", financed by PONT and implemented by ALCDF.
