Soon the launch of the ALCDF project on "Protection and sustainable use of cross-border protected areas of Sharr Mountain, Mavrova and Korab-Koritnik", supported by the PONT program (Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust).
Soon: The launch of the new ALCDF project on "Protection and sustainable use of cross-border protected areas of Sharr Mountain, Mavrova and Korab-Koritnik", supported by the PONT program (Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust). During a working meeting with the directors of the PONT program and several organizations with which contracts were signed for the implementation of projects in protected areas of parks in the massive territories of Sharr-Korab/Alpe and ecological corridors connected to protected areas in the territories: Cukal-MunellΓ«-Balgjaj-Martanesh; Polis-Valamare-RungajΓ«-MoravΓ«-Gramoz; Black Drin; Ilinska-Plakenska-Bigla; Stogovo-Karaorman-Jablanica. Agreements were signed between PONT and the winning organizations from Call No. 6, which were: - ALCDF Foundation, - INCA, - PPNEA, - Eco Albania, and - CNVP from the previous call. All these organizations will work closely with the staff of the line Ministries, the National Agency for Protected Areas, Regional Agencies for Protected Areas, Regional Management Committees of Protected Areas, local governance units, and communities and NGOs in the respective areas. Additionally, many local organizations are partners in the implementation of these agreements, and serve as local contact points for these projects. The project implemented by the ALCDF Foundation is focused on the largest cross-border protected area in Europe, Sharr-Korab, and seeks to contribute to good governance, management and administration of protected areas, improving management, coordination, cooperation and ensuring legitimacy of good governance of this cross-border protected area. Furthermore, the project will focus on increasing community participation and other local actors in the processes of management and protection of biodiversity in protected areas, ensuring active participation of all actors in joint monitoring of the area and effective management with groups and structures shared by both states and responsible institutions.
