Meeting for the Establishment of the Community Observer Network for the Protected Zone in Korab-Koritnik Natural Park in Shishtavec

The community observer network for protected zones is a key element for the good management of national parks in the Sharr-Korab massif. The meeting for the establishment of the community observer network for the protected zone in Korab-Koritnik Natural Park was held in Shishtavec for the Kukës zone. Village elders, heads of Administrative Units, and local government authorities in the municipality gathered and discussed the role of community observers in protected zones.

The community observer network is a structure that facilitates communication and cooperation between management structures and the local community for protected zones, but it must be formalized and active. The community's interest in the good management of protected zones is high, but communication with protected zone management authorities and other institutions must be at more structured levels and practices. The community observer network is one of these cooperation and communication structures.

This activity was organized within the framework of the project "Protection and Sustainable Use of Protected Zones in Sharr Mountain, Mavrova, and Korab-Koritnik", financed by the PONT program – Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust, implemented by ALCDF and partners CSCD and LAG Dibra Turistike.
