European Day of Parks Activities in four regions

Open activities organized by ECO NORD Forum of Shkoder on European Day of Parks 
May 24, 2017- Shkoder city celebrated the European Day of Parks with open activities organized by ECO NORD Forum organizations of Shkoder Region (NRD, GO2, Green Center, Creative City, Albanian Skadar Lake Forum) in the beautiful surroundings of Buna River. The activity was attended by many citizens, including students of Shkodra University, environmental NGOs as well as Albanian Local Capacity Development Foundation (ALCDF) representatives. Green Centre director, Anila Neziri gave an interview to the local television TV 1 pinpointing that one of the main components of ECO NORD project is to raise awareness on the paramount importance of environmental protection. She stressed that environment matters since Earth is the only home that humans have and it provides air, food and other needs.  Prof. Aurora Dibra, lecturer, department of Biology at Luigj Gurakuqi University talked on the importance of Protected Zones, especially on that of Shkodra Lake, as well as the promotion of Eco-friendly tourism in Albania, which is still in embryonic stage. The organizers distributed informative material to the participants, and at the end the students engaged in cleaning part of the surroundings. The event was covered by TV1 and Ora News televisions. The European Day of Parks is a commemorative day of Protected Areas across Europe that was launched in 1999 by the EUROPARC Federation to celebrate Protected Areas across Europe. The celebrations were organized by Eco Nord Project, financed by EU and implemented by ALCDF.
