Practical Guide for Fire Protection

This publication has been prepared to serve as a practical and comprehensive guide for fire protection, clearly addressing issues of prevention, preparedness, response, and post-fire management. It aims to raise awareness and build capacities of institutional and community actors in the face of increasing fire risk, particularly in the context of climate change and mounting pressure on natural ecosystems. The guide has been developed within the framework of the project "Protection and Sustainable Use of Protected Areas in Sharr Mountain, Mavrovo and Korab-Koritnik", financed by the Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust (PONT). The project is implemented by the Albanian Foundation for Local Capacity Development (ALCDF), in partnership with local and regional organizations, including CSCD in North Macedonia and LAG "Dibra Turistike" in Albania. This publication is addressed to central and local institutions, protected area administrations, fire services, civil protection structures, as well as volunteers, farmers, teachers, and local communities. Through this guide, beneficiary actors are equipped with practical and science-based knowledge, contributing to the strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation and the building of a shared culture of responsibility for protecting nature and human life from fires.
