Beginning of Meetings for the Zero Waste Project in the Margegaj and Guci Area

Did you know that from a survey of residents and businesses in Margegaj, conducted under the project "Albania and Montenegro towards zero waste", financed by the IPA cross-border Albania-Montenegro programme, the following results emerged:

- Regarding the quantity of waste, families produce an average of 17.7 kg per week, while companies produce significantly more, averaging 275.8 kg per company. - In terms of the amount of waste produced, it is mainly organic waste, plastic, glass, paper, and bulky waste. What is common is that organic waste is the most abundant for both groups, accounting for 30% for businesses up to 36% for families.

- The majority of families and businesses report that waste going to landfill sites reaches up to 40%. - However, when going to the market, fewer than half of respondents (47%) bring a reusable bag or a backpack. While only 29% of respondents use a reusable water bottle. - The vast majority of families (98%) and companies (92%) believe that currently there is too much unnecessary packaging and it is a source of unnecessary waste.

- On the other hand, 77% of families and 90% of companies emphasized that they would donate old items they no longer need to the Reuse Centre.

- All respondents unanimously agree 100% to support the Administrative Unit in its decision to become "Valbona with zero waste".
